Ready for the Preseason?

I know I am. Lol.

So this summer the Pens lost Scuderi and now sykora has been invited on a tryout to the Wild's camp.

In our own camp, it is our first summer under Bylsma at camp. All seems to be going well. In the scrimmage today he gave Tyler kennedy som time on the Malkin Fedatenko line. It could work, but you never know how it will end up.

I can't wait to get back to the arena to start the season. One major change is that John Barbaro will not be heard over the PA system. He will be missing some time due to a medical condition. No word as to what that is or how long he will miss.

Hockey is back!

"Good" possibilty of Manny Fernandez coming to Pittsburgh.

If that falls through Biron could be a replacement.

Sykora looks like he may stay in the Burgh, if he doesn't go to Russia. Devils are very interested in him, though.

Wow

I think that is the only thing I have been able to think since the game. What a game. It is was great to watch. The celebrations that ensued were nuts. Now, I think that I can talk about the game with a slightly more level-headed apporach.

It was a tough fought game on both sides. Fleury made some key saves. Talbot had both goals and really seemed to take it upon himself to do it. The whole team really stepped it up. Gill, Fedotenko, Orpik, Staal, and others really took it to the next level. Malkin played a solid game, as did Crosby. Sid's injjury seemed like a dark omen to me. I could see it all slipping away. The team rallied and took it to the finish.

This has been an amazing season and the Pens have earned all the credit in the world fr how they came back to make it here.

Bylsma had solidified himself as an NHL coach.

That is it for now. See everyone tomorrow at the parade.

Congratulations to the 2009 Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins!!!!!!!!!

Okay, now that I can breathe again. What a game! I am shaking still. I just can't believe it. It is surreal. This was an amazinng game. Sykora played like a man possessed. And Mad Max was truly mad. Fleury played a solid game and a little luck helped to. Lol. Staal played a good game, as did Kennedy. I really have no complaints right now. I think that I am too high on the win to analyze anything in an analytical or pragmatic way.

Live from Game 3

Well, I have been at the igloo for about 45 minutes or so. The place is starting to get a crowd in it. The Players should be coming out for the pregame skate before I finish writing this.

The first 2 gameas did not go in our favor, but there were some definite bright spots. We had a lot of good scoring chances and rang at least 4 off the post in game 2. Fleury needs to be more consistant for us. We are definetly in a better place being down 2-0 in the series than we were last year. We can do this.

As predicted, the players just hit the ice. More later. Let's Go Pens!

Finals Game 1

Last night's game was a bit disappointing. The score was 3-1. Fedotenko had the Pens goal. We played a pretty good game. We did poorly on faceoffs. I believe Detroit won over 70% of them. Fleury did not play his best and Osgood was playing a great game.

As game 2 is about to start, let's hope this goes in our favor tonight. We know we can, but will it work out?

Pens win Eastern conference; Sweep Canes

The score was 4-1. Fedotenko, Talbot, Guerin, and Adams each had a goal tonight.

In the first few minutes of the game, the Pens were outplayed. It was not looking good, but the team quickley got it together and never looked back.

Going into the series, I never expected to sweep the Canes. I don't think anyone expects a sweep in the conference finals. This was a bit surreal.

The series in the west goes to game 5 tomorrow with the Wings p 3-1 in the series.

This looks like it could very well be a rematch of last year.

Sorry fir they delay. Memorial day weekend and camping and everything delayed this a bit.

What a game.

Malkin had two goals and Crosby, Fedotenko, Adams and Guerin each added one.

Cam Ward looked like a piece of swiss cheese.

The pens played a hard game and kept the hurricanes from doing just about everything.

They way the Pens have been playing these last few games, they seem unstoppable.

Fleury played a good game, but it was overshadowed by the rest of the teams effort.

Game four should be fun to watch.

Game 7

What a game

I thought we had a good chance at beating the Caps, but I had not idea that we would blow them out of the water like that.

6-2 was the final score.
Crosby had 2 goals. Adams, Letang, Guerin, and Staal each had one, as well.

Fleury made the big saves, but also let in a very weak goal.

How glad were we to see Gonchar on the ice? The playoffs have a way of making this heal faster or at least players develop a higher pain threshold. Lol.

More after we determine our opponent for the next round.

Game 6

Sorry for the delay in finishing my posts for Game 6. I think I have the Flu.

Thank you to Johnny for your comments posted to my first period update. Shooting is something that a been an issue for the team. Though, as for the number of shots, we did improve. The team missed key opportunites by pass, wheb they had an open net and ended up with an easily stopped shot instead. They need to work on their timing. On the powerplay, I have noticed a drastic difference with the loss of Gonchar. The shots from the point and the rebounds from them made up a large portipon of our powerplay scoring and we need to get some part of that going again.

This was not Gill's strongest game, but I don't think he played as poorly as many are making it out to be. He played a safe game and did not go for the big play or anything too fancy. That is Gill's game. It would be nice to see him go for those bug plays though.

As for Orpik, he looked like a man possesed. He did not give tons of thundering hits, like he does, at times. He needed to be more of a thorn in the sides of the Caps. We know that he is capable of it, he just needs to take it there. The rest of his play was pretty good. He defended our end well and seemed to make fairly smart choices with the puck.

Fleury needs consistancy. He let in some really questionable goals and then made some highlight real saves. He seemed to stop the most threatening shots and let in the weaker ones. It was just odd.

I wish Gonchar was able to play, but was I ever impressed with Goligoski. He is making the most of his time up here. He was flying and made some really good plays. If he keeps performing like that, I think he will be up her next season.

That is about it. Game 7 tonight. I will have more after the game.

Win it for Gonchar!

Game 5

Pens win in OT. Final score 4-3.

Staal, Fedotenko, Cooke, and Malkin had the goals.

It was a tough game. I was a bit concerned, when it took so long for the first goal of the game and I was even more concerned, when the Caps tied it and then went on to take the lead. The Pens battled back and were leading, but the Caps tied it again to force the OT.

The Pens now have a series lead of 3-2. Game 6 will be back at Mellon Arena. The Pens need to close out the series at home. They will have an added challenge, Brashear's suspension will be over and I expect him to dress. These two games have proved that the Caps will do desperate things in a dirty way and that sums up Brashear. After what Ovechkin did to Gonchar, I am afraid of what brashear would try in the next game.
Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

Game 4

The Pens played a good solid game to earn the win. Gonchar, Guerin, Fedotenko, Crosby, and Talbot all scored and that is the type of variety we like to see on the score sheet.

Mad Max Talbot was definetly in playoff form. He was all over the ice.

Orpik look like a man on a mission to takeout someone. He was purely possessed and that brought a huge fire to his play.

Crosby played a great game. I recall one shit where the team faltered he got his own pass, shotn got the rebound back on the cage from in close, and then managed to keep it in at the blue line a few seconds later. He was everywhere.

Ovechkin's hit on Gonchar was something that needs to be reveiewed by the league. I feel it showed an intent to injur, but and fine and or suspension was at the discretion of the league. We must remember one thing. Retribution needs to be earned on the ice. The best thing the team could do right now is shut down Ovechkin. Keep him off the score sheet. Rattle his cage a bit and do everything that we can to him without committing penelties. Perhaps, that will cause him to blatantly do something stupid and take a critical penelty. Also, we just need to win. That would surely piss him off.

Gonchar is listed with a lower body injury, likely his knee, from what I have heard. He will definetly miss today's game and likely the rest if this series. Goligoski has been recalled to fill the void. Though, no one can really take Gonchar's place. Our powerplay. After his injury, proved that. We had no idea how tpo get the puck in zone. It was almost comical, at first.

Game 3

What a game.

Sorry for the delay in my post.

Game three held all the hope for the series. It looked like the Pens had a very good chance and then the Caps scored with Fleury scambling back into position and without his stick. It truly thought that would be the beginning of the end, but thankfully I was wrong.

The Pens battles hard throughout the game. Fedatenko's goal really seemed to put the wind back in their sails.

Malkins goal was much needed for the lead. It was also good to see him put the puck in the net, after a little draught.

The Caps goal to force the OT should had made me feel the major anticipation that comes with sudden death, but it didn't. The Pens were strong in the OT and Letang's goal gave us the win.

It was a hard fought game. Fleury was not having his best performance, but the team, as a whole, held it together.

On to game 4...

Gearing up for the whiteout!!!!

Game 2: Caps 4 Crosby 3

Well, the pens took the lead with a goal from Crosby to make it 1-0. Crosby scored again and then late in the thrid it was 4-2 Caps. Ovechkin had a hat trick and then Crosby added his third goal for his hat trick to make it 4-3 Caps.

The pens have a problem. It is consistancy. We cannot play a solid 60 minute game.

Our powerplay did record a goal tonight, but it was still not as it should be. With our talent, we should be the hottest team on the powerplay in the league.

Game 3 will be back here.

Game 1 Caps win

Game one was a good game. We did lose, but it was close for the most part. We need to get our powerplay together. For as much talent as we have, it should have done better than that. I thought we had a real hope of winning today, when Sid opened the scoring. Eaton's goal was unexpected and welcomed. Fleury played okay. He was not stellar, but not horrid either. The Pens need to find the grit they used against Philly to comback abd dominate game 2. We need to come back home with one win to show for it, if not I fear that it would be too much to comeback from.

Game 5

Well, I guess we are heading back to Philly.

This is a game that we should have won. Finishing off the Flyers at home should have been it.

We played a sloppy game. We gave up after the first goal. We went back to dumping the puck in, but most of the time we forgot the all important chase part of dump and chase.

Biron played a great game for his team and was really standing on his head.

Sid was frustrated by the end of the game. Those two penelties were not like him, at all.

I do think that Boucher deserved his spot in the lineup tonight. He did play a fairly solid game, but was by no means a star either. If I were Bylsma, I would not regret that decision.

I would regret dressing Satan. Why would we think that he would suddenly contribute now? He hasn't done anything useful for the majority of the season and he certainly didn't accomplish anything tonight.

I do hope that Letang is back in the lineup for for game six.

That's it for now.

Whiteout

As everyone probably heard, it is a whiteout tonight at the game. We can show Philly and that weak attempt at "oranging" us out how it is really done.

The Pens need to finish this series tonight. We are up 3 games to 1. I want this over before someone gets unneccessarily hurt. These two teams always get heated, ecspecially in the playoffs. We need everyone to be healthy, if we are going to make it through the rounds.

Crosby, Kennedy, and Talbot had the Pens goals. The final score was 3-1. Fleury played a great game and deserved the win. The whole team had it together tonight.

Was it just me or did the Flyers play less of a nasty game?

It was nervous type of game until that first goal. The longer it took, the more important it became, as to who got the first goal. I am glad it was us. It could have been a very different night otherwise.

Mad Max was definetly in fine form tonight.

Kennedy had a good game too, as did Orpik.

A lot of key role players really stepped it up and those types of contributions really make all the differnce in the playoffs.

Crosby was a driving force tonight, as we have come to expect of him.

Game 2 Pens Win in OT

Billy Guerin opened the Pens scoring tonight. Malkin had the second and Guerin came bak with the game winner near the end of the OT.

It was a vicious game. The Flyers were out for blood. It turned nasty faced.

I don't like to bash the refs, because I know that can't call everything, but WTF? I don't think we were watching the same game. The hit on the back of the neck/head of Staal in the OT was ridiculous. The rest of it would have just frustrated me, but that pushed me and about 17000 others in the building lost it, at that point.

Fleury played a solid game tonight. Biron played a good game for Philly tonight, as well.

The jersey goal was a bit of a weak point, but the rest of his play more than made up for it. There were many player in on the Pens goals tonight. They are: Cooke, Guerin, Malkin, Crosby, Staal, and Kunitz. It was the type of game we needed to start a streak into the playoffs. Deadline Day Deals and Rumors

Satan was placed on waivers would clear around 12 today. I would think that he won't be a penguin after today, but that may be wishful thinking.

Former Pens Gary Roberts was placed on waivers by Tampa.

Pens are said to be looking at Prucha.

Pens are also said to be lookin at the jokinen deal that will likely go down.

Word is the pens still want a winger.

Former pen mark Recchi looks to be on the move, but not back to the burgh. I liked Recchi, but he has been a pen more times than he should have.

In other news, marian hossa was taken off in the first period against the blues on a stretcher, after a nasty slide into the boards. He had missed the 2 previous games with a neck injury. They kept him overnight for observation. He was said to have feeling in his limbs.

The pens defeated tampa last night. Recchi and roberts both sat out for the bolts. Crosby did not play, but is expected to return soon. It was a great game and how about kunitz? He has been on fire since he arrived. The win continued to boost the pens in the standings and we are solidly in the race for the playoffs now, unlike Tampa.

They tapered off a bit after that. The last ten minutes of the third period were the utter downfall of the game. Letang was having a good game, as were Crosby and Malkin. Talbot, who has been pretty silent lately, made a few good plays today. Orpik played a solid game today, though he seemed to have not been hitting quite as miuch, but I haven't seen the numbers yet. Whitney had few decent attempts today. I wish he would shoot the puck more. He has a wicked shot from the point. There were some good points to the game, but unfortunetly it wasn't enough. Sorry for the delay in the post. The pens played a fairly solid game on friday night. It was a good game to watch and resulted in only our second back to back win since november. Letang had 2 goals, and was largely the driving force behind a large portion of the game. The whole team played well.
Hopefully, the fire from last years playoffs is buring anew for the detriot game tomorrow.

Let's Go Pens!

Pens take on the Habs

Tonight, the Pens were in Montreal taking on the Habs, who recently lost former pens robert lang to and achilles tendon injury. Caputi had his first nhl goal tonight. They did not play a horrible game. I would have liked to have seen the pens get the puck to the net more. I am not sure why we waited, as long as we did, to pull Fleury. We. Just didn't have enough to pull it out, even with the late penelty.

The pens really need to work on playing a solid game and they need to play with a bit of desperation. The team needs to turn it around fast. If not, that dream of making the playoffs will be nothing but that.

On the rumor front, there is not much to say in the world of the pens. There is a lot of talk going around the league, right now. It is pretty quite, when it comes to the pens. More as I hear it.

Sometimes, with Ray Shero, I think that the more quiet it is; there is more that is really going on.

Back to back losses

Well, the pens lost two games this weekend. In both the devils and the leafs games, the pens did not play a "full" 60 minutes. Tonight's loss to the leafs was a tougher pill to swallow than last night's ot loss in jersey. The pens need to get a good streak going, if they want to make the playoffs. On the injury front, gonchar could be back by the end of february.

Rumor season is heating up. The pens are linked to a lot of potential deals, but nothing too solid to go on yet. Tkachuck is one name I have heard in a few places. And sykora is drawing interest, but from what I have heard the pens are not looking to move him.

All-Star Weekend

Well, pens fans what a weekend? The All-Star festivities seemed to go quite well in Montreal, though I was not there to witness it in person this year, as I was in Atlanta. It was a great event from my stand point. Maybe Crosby will eventually not be injured on All-Star weekend. Malkin seems to have a good time from all accounts. Now, that the break is over, I hope that out players have had a bit of time heal and are ready for wednesday's game.

Pens shutout Rangers

Hey pens fans
What a game. The pens were flying out there today. Fleury played a great game today and earned a well-deserved shutout. Minard, sykora, and kennedy had the goals for the game. It was a great win.

Pens win

The walking or should I say skating wounded managed to pull out a
win. In addition to our recent list of injuries 4 more players missed
from injuries sustained in the caps game. They are: crosby,
Scuderi , talbot, and letang. A lot of players really stepped up
tonight. Cooke had two goals and gill added one, as well. With the
losses that we had sustained, I thought tonight might have been really
bad, but I am glad to say that I was wrong. On a side note, there
were, at least, six teams, with scouts in the building tonight. They
were mostly from the western conference from what I heard. I am also
hearing that Satan is very tradeable, right now. More, as I hear
it.... Orpik is now injured,

Missing

Hey pens fans, I know that I have been a bit MIA, as of late. I have
had some things to deal with that cut drastically into my hockey time,
but I am back and on top of the latest pens news. Last night's game
was a hard blow, when it came to injuries. Crosby took a nasty spill
along the boards and appears to have injured his left leg. It looks
like he was favoring from what I could tell. Scuderi blocked a shot
with his face, which is never a good thing. I would expect he would
miss a game or two. He was bleeding quite significantly and post game
those, who saw him, said he had significant swelling near his eye.
Letang left the game with an injury, but returned to finish the game.
Talbot left the game with an injury, but I am not sure exactly what
was injured. On the rumor front, the Pens are looking, but I do not
have any solid leads. More, as I hear it....
