Tonight, the Pens took on the Montreal Canadiens at the Mellon Arena. The final score was 5-4.
In the first period, Evgeni Malkin scored on the power play assited by Gonchar and Crosby, to make it 1-0. In the second period, Sergei Gonchar scored a power play goal, which was assisted by Malkin and Crosby, to make it 2-0. Then, Montreal scored to make it 2-1. The Pens answered with another powerplay goal by Gonchar, assisted by Crosby and Whitney, to make it 3-1. Then, Montreal scored again to end the second period 3-2. In the third period, Christensen scored assisted by Talbot and Armstrong to make it 4-2. Montreal tied the game with 2 goals to make it 4-4 and force the overtime. This ended scoreless. In the shootout, Christensen and Malkin both scored for the win. Final score 5-4. Marc-Andre Fleury was in goal stopping 40 of 44 shots. He also allowed only 1 of 3 in the shootout.
