Hey pens fans,
The Pens defeated the Islanders at the Mellon Arena by a score of 5-2. In the first period the Pens opened up the scoring with a goal by Christensen assisted by Talbot and Whitney to make it 1-1. Then in the second, Ouellet scored to make it 2-1 on the power play from Malkin and Christensen. In the third, the Pens netted three goals. The first was by Crosby from Ouellet and Gonchar in the power play. Next, Christensen got his second of the game from Armstrong and Orpik. The Pens' final goal was scored by Crosby, his second of the night, from Recchi and Malone. Fleury was in gaol stopping 31 of 33 shots. The Pens penelty killing worked hard tonight at stopping the power plays. The Pens again were beaten badly in faceoffs winning only 24 as oppose to the Islanders winning 40. That has been something they have been struggleing with quite a bit this season. Hopefully, they can improve those numbers soon.
