Quiet Day

Well, our Pens made no moves. So, nothing much to discuss. The league was very quiet, as a whole. I guess I will have more for you about the pens as we head into the final push to the playoffs.

Pens Rumors

Hey Pens' Fans,
Time for my first quit hit of rumors.

To start off, I know that everyone has heard or talked of shopping Brent Johnson. I don't think it is entirely likely. I know that he has been inconsistent and that he will be an unrestricted free agent, but it not as bad, as it seems. I am not saying he is spectacular and we should never let h go. I am saying that the Pens fair far better than most of the league in the goalie department. I am not sure that others that are available would be worth the cap hit. I would not be surprised, if we traded him and got a pick or something. It just does not seem to be a top priority for the Pens nor should it be.

Rumors are swirling that that the Lightning are interested in dealing former Pen and Pittsburgh native Ryan Malone. Malone has a not trade clause and it is said he will waive it to return to Pittsburgh. I have heard that he Pens have some interest, but honestly it would have to be the right deal for it to work with the hit to the cap and all. I would like to see Malone back and think he would fit into our current roster. What I trying to figure out is what deal would be beneficial for boh teams that could make that happen.

I know I have been out of blogging for a bit, but I get tons of emails from friends and acquaintances about rumors this time of year. Many of you keep asking about Jagr coming back for God knows what reason. It is NOT happening and why would we want him back. So, for he record I have heard no rumors about any interest in bringing him back and I doubt that I will.

More as I hear it...

Back to where it all began...

Hey. Pens' Fans,

It was 2 years ago at the trade dealine, when I last posted and updated.  It has been far too long.  My love of hockey has never waivered.  Work and life got in the way, but now I am back to what really matters.  I am restarting my old tradition on 24 hour trade watch leading into the dealine.  So, with a hot mug of coffee and armed with every internet capable device I could find, I stage a return.

My love of hockey and the the interrworksings of deals, trades and drafts, have always been my passion.  So I thought what better time than the eve of the dealine to go back to what I love.

I hope to keep up with all the rumors and transactions for everyone.

It's great to be back and there is not a more exciting time to jump back in.

Pens Top Islanders and a Trade

Hey Pens' Fans,

First, let's talk about last night's game.  Even with all the snow and road issues in the area about 13,000 fans made to the igloo for the game, myself included.  It was a good game.  Kunitz had two goals and Malkin added pone to give tht Pens a 3-1 victory.  Fleury played a solid game.  There were definetly a few uniquie moments, but it all turned out well.  I think that Adams played a pretty good game and he has been failry silent in his ice time recently.  Orpik played an aggressive gamew, but he took a few penelties that were not something to be entirely pleased about.  Dupuis played a few particulary impressive shifts, but unfortunetly he could not keep it up all game.  The whole teamed really did seem to step-up.  Kris Letang and Tyler Kennedy both played some very good hockey and worked hard on both ends of the ice.  This was a game where there is very little negative and it is a great mommentum to carry into the remaining games until the Olympic break.

In trade news, the Pens traded defenseman, Nate Guenin to the Blues for defenseman Steve Wagner.  Wagner is  6'1" and 25 years old.  He will report to Wilkes-Barre.

Snowy Days

Hey Pens' Fans,

Well, the past few days have been a bit hectic with all the snow.  So, let me summarize the past few days.  First, the Pens fell to Montreal.  I will be honest with all the snow and issues caused by it I did not see any part of the game, at all.  From what I have seen in clips and such since then I can't form a really good opinion, but I can say that it looks like that we made a fairly good effort.  Now, the trip from there to DC was quite the trip for the guys: flying into Newark and bussing into DC and still being on I 95 outside Philly at 11:30 at night with a game at 12 the next day.  I give them credit for playing such a good game.  I expected the team to be completely drained.  It was a tough game and I hate that we lost, but at least it was in OT and we got one point.  The only thing that really angers me is that Ovechkin got the HT.  Tomorrow, the Pens will be at home against the Islanders.  It should be a good game and they have had a couple days to rest after the hectic weekend.  It should be a good game.  I hope everyone is able to make it to the game tomorrow, with the impending forecast.  Drive Safe and Let's Go Pens!   See you at the game...

Better Late than Never: Pens Top Sabres

Hey Pens' Fans,
Well, my post is a bit late, but that is better than nothing, right?

The Pens topped the Sabres 5-4 last night. Sid had a natural hat trick, in the game. This was a tough game game to win and leave it to Crosby to make a good show. The whole team played a solid game. I will say that on definetly one of the Sabres goals that Fleury probably should have had it, but he played well otherwise.
